Chairman Niraj R Bajaj has indicated that the electric scooter business will see work around the product proposition, market standing and profitability. No battery update, new variant name or launch date has been disclosed in the report but we expect the range to be expanded further taking advantage of the nameplate’s popularity. The 125cc-plus motorcycle space is another priority for the brand as Bajaj wants better competitiveness in this segment through brand-level action, product steps and execution in showrooms. The report does not name specific motorcycles but the category covers a large part of Bajaj’s domestic bike business. Pulsar remains the obvious volume connection in this space while Freedom 125 brings Bajaj into the 125 cc CNG motorcycle category. Avenger and Dominar sit higher up the displacement ladder and the company’s next moves in this band will be watched closely during FY27. GaadiWaadi – New patent images show a Xoom 125-based scooter which could point to an Adventure Edition or a new variant in the 125 cc line Hero MotoCorp has patented a rugged scooter design in India and the model seen in the images has a close visual connection to the Xoom 125 Adventure Concept shown earlier. The patent drawings show a sharper version of the Xoom 125 with adventure-style add-ons around the front apron, handlebar area and lower body. The front section carries the biggest changes. The scooter gets a tall visor above the handlebar cowl, wide knuckle guards and a raised beak-like front fender. Auxiliary lamp housings are also visible on both sides – mounted low near the apron area. Crash protection bars wrap around the lower front panels giving the scooter a go-anywhere stance than the regular Xoom 125. The side profile shows a long single-piece seat, high-set tail section and layered body panels. The floorboard looks wide and flat while the rear end carries a compact tail lamp section and a sleek grab rail. The exhaust layout, rear suspension placement and engine casing suggest that the model continues to be based on the standard petrol scooter. The patent images also show alloy wheels, a front disc brake, telescopic front forks and a rear drum brake setup. The front tyre looks chunkier in the drawing but the exact tyre pattern cannot be confirmed from the greyscale images. The production Xoom 125 already comes with 14-inch wheels and the Adventure Concept had 14-inch wheels with dual-purpose tyres. Hero had showcased the Xoom 125 Adventure Concept at EICMA 2024 in Milan alongside the larger Xoom 160 Adventure Concept. The concept carried Hero MotoSports Dakar-inspired styling, a red-and-white rally livery, taller visor, race-style fenders, knuckle guards, crash guard, fog lamps, corner-bending lights and ride modes. GaadiWaadi – Ather’s first EL platform based scooter is expected to launch around the upcoming festive season with a practical packaging and affordable pricing Ather Energy is looking ahead for its next electric scooter and the model is expected to be based on the EL01 concept shown at Community Day 2025. The production version will use Ather’s new EL platform and could arrive around the festive season placing it below the Rizta and the more expensive 450 range in the domestic market. The EL01-based scooter has already been spotted testing in India besides the design getting patented. The test mule points to a more conventional family scooter shape compared to the sportier 450 line. The design also differs from the Rizta as the new model is expected to target a lower price band and higher day-to-day usability. It could rival the TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, Ola S1 X and other practical electric scooters in the mass-market space. The EL01 concept used a wide front apron, handlebar-mounted rectangular LED headlamp, flat single-piece seat, large floorboard and 14-inch wheels. It is Rs. 35,000 costlier than the MY26 motorcycle while the mechanical package stays unchanged. The dual-sport motorcycle has been made available in a single Standard edition and can be bought in Lime Green and Battle Gray shades – the same two colour choices seen on the current version. The KLX230 S has been added this time around for the same price with 50 mm lower seat height courtesy of the reduced suspension travel. The motorcycle keeps its slim off-road bodywork, compact LED headlamp, narrow fuel tank section, high-mounted front mudguard and flat seat as you might expect. The design follows Kawasaki’s KX-style trail bike theme with minimum body panels and a tall riding position. The motorcycle uses the same 233 cc air-cooled, four-stroke, single-cylinder engine. GaadiWaadi – One millionth TVS iQube has been rolled out from Hosur plant as the electric scooter records 14.94 billion km of customer riding since launch TVS Motor Company has rolled out the one millionth iQube from its Hosur manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu. The electric scooter first entered the Indian market back in 2020 and it has since grown into one of the country’s better-known family electric scooters – backed by a wider variant range and a large sales and service network. The production landmark comes at a time when electric scooters have moved closer to mainstream family usage in India. TVS says the iQube has been developed around Indian riding needs with multiple battery capacities, range choices and connected functions across the portfolio. It is currently the best-selling electric two-wheeler in the domestic market. The iQube customer base has covered more than 14.94 billion kilometres since launch. TVS says this usage has helped avoid 522,969 tonnes of CO2 emissions. The company also compares the carbon saving to planting nearly 20.9 million trees based on its internal calculation. The brand has also used its retail and service footprint to support the growing popularity of iQube. The electric scooter is now backed by more than 3,300 touchpoints across over 3,000 cities. The network has helped the brand reach more customers beyond and into smaller cities where service access plays a bigger part in purchase decisions. The iQube range has expanded steadily from the original version launched over six years ago. The Hosur rollout also shows how TVS has scaled EV manufacturing while retaining local product development. The company has invested in R&D, battery-related systems, software, connected technology and production capacity as electric two-wheelers gain more ground in India. It must be noted that TVS currently operates four manufacturing facilities across India and Indonesia. The company sells vehicles in several global markets while its UK-based Norton Motorcycles business sits under the same group. GaadiWaadi – Norton Atlas and Atlas GT use a 585 cc parallel-twin engine and are underpinned by a steel trellis frame; comes with features like an 8-inch TFT and six-axis IMU Norton Motorcycles has rolled out the first Atlas from TVS Motor Company’s Hosur manufacturing plant in Tamil Nadu. The new middleweight motorcycle range will make its global debut in July and sales in the domestic market are scheduled to begin later this year. The Atlas harbingers Norton’s entry into the middleweight adventure touring space under TVS ownership. Development work took place at Norton’s Solihull headquarters in the United Kingdom while production for the new model has now started in India. The range has two versions: Atlas and Atlas GT. Both motorcycles use the same 585 cc liquid-cooled DOHC parallel-twin engine. The motor has a 270-degree crankshaft, ride-by-wire throttle, multi-point fuel injection and atmospheric plasma spray-coated cylinder surfaces. Output stands at 69 bhp at 9,300 rpm and 57.5 Nm at 7,300 rpm. Transmission duties are handled by a six-speed gearbox. Norton has also equipped the Atlas range with a bi-directional quickshifter and an assist-and-slipper clutch. Claimed fuel efficiency is rated at 23 kmpl while service intervals are set at 10,000 km. The engine sits inside a steel trellis frame and works as a stressed member while the rear section uses a cast aluminium swingarm. The Atlas has a 15.4-litre fuel tank, 845 mm seat height, 220 mm ground clearance and 1,465 mm wheelbase. In addition, the wet weight without fuel is listed at 188 kg for the Atlas and 192 kg for the Atlas GT. The standard Atlas is set up for mixed-surface use. It runs a 19-inch front wheel and 17-inch rear wheel wrapped in Eurogrip Explo R Plus tyres. The fully adjustable KYB suspension uses 43 mm upside-down front forks and a rear monoshock – both rated for 180 mm travel. The Atlas GT appears to be tuned for tarmac use. It gets 17-inch wheels at both ends and 140 mm suspension travel at the front and rear. Compression, rebound and preload can be adjusted and the rear shock also gets hydraulic preload adjustment. Braking hardware is shared between the two variants. Twin 310 mm semi-floating discs at the front work with radially mounted ByBre calipers while the rear uses a 270 mm disc. Bosch six-axis IMU support gives the motorcycles lean-sensitive ABS, cornering traction control, wheelie control, rear slide control and cornering cruise control. Both motorcycles get an 8-inch full-colour touchscreen TFT display with 720p resolution. The console supports Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, turn-by-turn navigation, ride telemetry, GoPro control, over-the-air software updates and Norton Rider app pairing. The rider modes available in the Norton duo are Urban, Rain, Sport, Tour and Enduro. Other key equipment are keyless ignition, USB-C charging, multimedia controls and cruise control. The lighting package uses LEDs all around, with twin-projector headlamps, signature daytime running lamps, integrated handguard indicators and multifunction rear lighting. GaadiWaadi – Royal Enfield’s first Himalayan Basecamp will take place in Leh at 11,480 feet with rides, challenges, masterclasses and outdoor activities Royal Enfield has announced the first Himalayan Basecamp Ladakh Edition which is scheduled from September 4 to 6, 2026. The three-day gathering will be held in Leh, Ladakh, at 11,480 feet, and tickets are now live on Royal Enfield’s official Himalayan Basecamp page. The event has been created for riders, climbers, overlanders, kayakers, mountain bikers and outdoor travellers. The Chennai-based manufacturer has chosen Ladakh for the first edition – keeping the brand’s long association with Himalayan riding at the centre of the format. Participants can ride in, fly in or use GPS routes to reach the venue. The main riding challenges will test navigation, off-road control and high-altitude judgement. The Navigation Challenge will use a Time-Speed-Distance format across tough Ladakh terrain and will be open to all motorcycle categories. The filing carries a registration date of August 5, 2025 and it shows a compact motorcycle with a round headlamp, slim fuel tank, long single-piece seat, exposed side panels and a simple rear section. The side profile has a classic commuter shape but the slightly low stance, narrow bodywork, long exhaust and clean tail section give it a cafe racer inspired finish. The front and rear fenders are short while the upright handlebar and flat seat suggest a more practical design than a pure retro showpiece. The rear three-quarter view reveals a tubular grab rail, twin rear shock absorbers, five-spoke alloy wheels and conventional telescopic front forks. The engine area is left exposed and the exhaust runs low before ending in a long silencer. The overall treatment is not a direct copy of the earlier Splendor Pro Classic but the resemblance is suggests that Hero may be studying a modern return for the concept. Hero first showed the Splendor Pro Classic at Auto Expo 2014 and the motorcycle later reached the market as a small-capacity cafe racer based on the Splendor platform. It was sold as one of India’s rare 100 cc retro motorcycles using clip-on style bars, a rounded headlamp, chrome detailing, a single-seat look and compact body panels. The original Splendor Pro Classic used a 97.2 cc air-cooled, single-cylinder engine. The motor produced around 8.25 bhp at 8,000 rpm and 8.05 Nm at 5,000 rpm – coupled with a four-speed gearbox. The motorcycle was priced at around Rs. 53,900 at launch and was offered in colours such as Carbon Black and Solid Maroon. The old model had a distinct idea but arrived at a time when India’s entry-level motorcycle market was still led mainly by conventional commuters. A cafe-racer-style 100 cc Hero was unusual and the model eventually exited the market. Hero could now revive the idea through a 125 cc powertrain instead of returning to the older 97.2 cc format.
